Brass CNC Machining

CNC machining is a machining method that uses computerized code to control the movement of tools to create products from a number of different materials, including brass. With brass CNC machining, a wide variety of products can be produced, from ornate pieces of art to complex industrial parts. We are proud to provide exceptional CNC machining services of this alloy for a myriad of different applications. The Brass CNC Machining Process

CNC machining, or Computer Numerical Controlled machining, is a machining method that relies on computer coding known as G-code to guide the movements of tools. Each individual product has its own unique G-code, which is created through computer-aided design (CAD) software. Once integrated with the CNC machine, this code acts to guide the mills, lathes, and other machines that cut the brass into its finished form. What starts as a solid piece of brass can be shaped down to just about any product imaginable, including automotive gears and valves, electronic enclosures, household hardware, musical instruments, and more.

The Unique Qualities of Brass

Brass is an alloy of zinc and copper. It holds many unique qualities that make it a great choice for brass CNC milling:

  • Machinability: Brass is a highly machinable material, meaning it can withstand intricate detailing and finishes without compromising its structural integrity.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Brass does an excellent job at resisting corrosion, making it an ideal choice for wet or humid environments.
  • Appearance: The warm, golden hue of brass is desirable for many different applications.

It is also important to note that not all brass is the same. Two common types of brass include 260 brass and 360 brass. The former is known as cartridge brass or yellow brass and is used for decorative furniture parts, ammunition, and engraving. The latter is commonly used for plumbing products, valve stems, and musical instruments.
